Dyker Heights holiday light pics.

We’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!  Here are some pictures from Dyker Heights this year.  For anyone who hasn’t visited the holiday lights in that area, they are pretty spectacular.  The majority are between 82nd and 85th Streets from 10th to 13th avenue.  Enjoy!

E-Waste recycling drop-off in Brooklyn

Very soon, January 1st in fact, throwing out electronic waste, such as phones and laptops, will become illegal in New York City.  Seeing as though many people may be getting some new electronics tomorrow and may need to dispose of their old ones  we’d like to share a couple of links with you to help […]

Brooklyn Union Cafe now open in Columbia Waterfront.

We blogged back in September about a restaurant coming to 126 Union Street, formerly Brooklyn Southern, that was asking for feedback from their neighbors.  They were getting some suggestions for local farmy American cuisine and it looks like that’s the route they went.  The outside looks great.  They’ve only been open for about a month […]

Men’s clothing store, Wooden Sleepers, opens in Red Hook.

The space at 416 Van Brunt, which used to house a gallery, has reopened very recently as a men’s clothing and antique store.  It’s called Wooden Sleepers, which is the name for the wooden planks used to tie the metal railway together.  Great name for the vibe of this store! They were closed when we […]

Last minute ideas for Brooklyn-inspired gift giving.

Many of the Holiday Pop-ups have come and gone, though you could still shop locally by heading to a strip of boutiques in a certain area like Smith Street in Cobble Hill or Van Brunt in Red Hook.  It’s always fun to go to a Holiday Market though and thankfully the Brooklyn Holiday Pop Up […]

Red Hook Small Business Holiday Party Pics.

We had a wonderful night at Hometown BBQ last night for the 2nd annual Red Hook small business holiday party.  Several small businesses from the hood came out to celebrate and it was great to see everyone.  The Realty Collective crew was there in full force (pictured below).  Yummy food, drinks, and Secret Santa gifting!  […]

Two new(ish) stores for holiday shopping in Cobble Hill.

We noticed these boutiques walking in Cobble Hill the other day and thought they were new.  It’s so hard to keep up sometimes with the ever-changing face of Smith Street.  They aren’t brand new but if you’re looking for somewhere to do your holiday shopping in the neighborhood and wanted to try a place that […]

New gift shop on Smith Street and Bergen.

Not too long ago we noticed something stirring inside 180 Smith street, which used to house a dessert and coffee shop called Roogla.  There was movement and we knew they’d be opening soon.  Pictures from just a couple of weeks ago are below and you can compare to the now open “El Milagro” above.  Beautiful […]

New urgent care clinic on Court Street.

230 Court Street was home to Dominic J Cusimano Court Street Funeral Home for many many years before being vacated.  Now the large space has become an urgent care center (pictured above) called CityMD.  There seem to be a number of walk-in clinics popping up around the neighborhood lately.  One further down on Court Street […]
