Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar this weekend.

If you haven’t already gotten everything on your list over this last crazy shopping weekend, you can head down to 501 Union Street this Sunday for the Brooklyn Holiday Bazaar.  We always prefer shopping local, not only to support our neighborhood small businesses but also to find more unique gifts, and these markets give us […]

Lakeside coming soon!

It’s officially December and we are so looking forward to this month’s grand event.  No, we’re not talking about Christmas, we’re talking about the opening of Lakeside at Prospect Park.  A giant indoor and outdoor ice skating rink in the winter and water park/skating rink in the summer that sounds amazing.  That plus a year […]

Eat Pie and Shop soon.

It’s Black Friday today so many of you are or will be doing some shopping today.  We thought it would be appropriate to post about an annual event in the neighborhood called Eat Pie and Shop.  It’s not today but something you may want to put on your calendar for December 8th.  It’s a fundraiser […]

Christmas Carol in Carroll Gardens.

We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving today. Very thankful for our friends and neighbors and thankful to live in such a wonderful community.  We saw this sign yesterday and it made us feel all warm and fuzzy as well as excited for the holidays to come.  A Christmas Carol (A Radio Play) will […]

New shops replacing the old mainstays.

We always have mixed feelings when we see a new place opening up in a spot that had been a neighborhood staple.  Jim and Andy’s Produce at 208 Court was one of those places.  A fruit and vegetable stand and shop that had been around forever until now.  The place closed a while back and […]

Hill Country Coming to Brooklyn.

We just passed a very exciting sign in Downtown Brooklyn.  The space you see in the picture above, which looks like a pretty huge space, has blue signs all along it that say Hill Country Fried Chicken coming soon.  We hadn’t heard the news about this one before so as we were squinting to read […]

New make-your-own pasta place on Smith.

We walked by 227 Smith street, which used to be a health and juice bar, and noticed it’s open now.  The new place is called Pazzi Pasta and it’s an interesting idea.  It’s basically a make-your-own menu.  You choose a pasta, sauce, topping and extras (different types of cheeses or breadcrumbs). It’s reasonably priced and […]

New Sephora in Brooklyn.

Okay, this was actually a surprise to us.  We’re usually pretty on the ball about what’s coming to our neighborhood but when we passed this Sephora on Court and Joralemon it was definitely a surprise.  It hasn’t been around for more than a few weeks, though.  It is now the one and only Sephora in […]

BHS Preschool Book Fair this weekend.

Here’s a cute kids event in Brooklyn Heights this weekend from 10am-2pm.  It’s the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue Preschool Book Fair.  Their will be face painting, balloon animals, arts and crafts, bake sale, and of course books for sale. There will also be readings.  The line up for that is below. 11am Melissa Guion reading “Baby […]

An event space available in Columbia Waterfront.

We came across this sign a little while back.  Hangar 101 is a space at 101 Hamilton Ave and is apparently available for events.  It’s a big space that would probably be able to accommodate lots of people.  We thought we’d pass it along for anyone interested.  Go to this site for more info.
