Congress Bar

We saw the new bar, former Jim and Andy’s Produce at 208 Court Street, is called Congress. It looks really nice.  The new blue exterior is a really lovely shade and the interior (although still being worked on a bit) looks like it will have a very traditional relaxed feel. And we now have an […]

Francesco’s Restaurant is Open.

Francesco’s has been open now for about a week now.  We snapped this picture of their new digs, which used to be their old digs.  The pizza restaurant used to take up the space of two storefronts, with their pizza oven, counter and some tables on one side and more tables on the other.  They’ve […]

Uplands and Greenway at Pier 3 and 4 are open.

If this freezing cold weather lets up for a day or two we’re definitely going to head down to Brooklyn Bridge Park to see what’s new.  We got a notice a few weeks ago that Pier 3 and Pier 4 Uplands and Greenway were officially open.  This is the second to last phase of the […]

More Thai food on Smith Street.

Taking over the spot of NY Perks, a former nightclub at 193 Smith Street, the neighborhood will be welcoming a new Thai restaurant.  With the plethora of Thai food in the area this is hardly exciting but maybe it will shine above the rest? It’s a chain called Spice that has several locations throughout Manhattan, […]

Farmacy Holiday Singalong.

Passed this sign last week.  We know it’s hard to make out (just a bit blurry) so we’ll translate. This coming Saturday, December 14th from 9am-10:30, Farmacy is having a Holiday Singalong Brunch.  They’ll have the normal brunch fare (pancakes, eggs, etc.) and a suggested donation of 10 per family is appreciated.

Reading in Red Hook next week.

Check out this cool thing.  We passed by this flyer the other day and, recognizing the actor’s doing the reading, did a double take. It’s being performed in Red Hook next Tuesday and we’re assuming it will fill up pretty fast, if it hasn’t already.  One because of the quality of performers and another because […]

From Brooklyn to the slopes on the Snow Bus.

We came across this sign on Smith Street the other day.  We remember that there was a beach bus over the summer transporting beach goers from Atlantic Ave to Rockaway Beach and thought that was a great idea.  This one is too! The Snow bus takes stops at Flatbush and Atlantic every Friday, Sat, and […]

An affordable Carroll Gardens Clothing Boutique

We’ve been doing a little holiday shopping around the neighborhood.  Small Business Saturday was a pretty busy day.  A lot of shops were having store-wide sales.  We wandered into a new shop at 319 Court Street in Carroll Gardens and were pleasantly surprised by the affordability, regular not sale prices.  Shop Our Closet is a […]

Konditori

We walked be 114 Smith and saw this new place.  It sounded like it could be Japanese cuisine as we said the name out loud, but we were surprised when we took a closer look.  It’s a coffee shop.  Konditori is, in fact, a Swedish word meaning coffee shop, or “where one goes for a […]
