Spotlight on Sol Sips: Black-Owned, Vegan and Community Conscious

What we put in our bodies is so important. Owner of Bushwick’s Vegan eatery, Sol Sips, knows the disparity between the price of healthy organic foods and your less healthy options, which cost less.  Francesca Chaney, a 22 year old woman, wanted to make wholesome foods more accessible in lower income neighborhoods where many immigrants and minorities reside. She began by selling homemade drinks in a storefront in Crown Heights and eventually opened her own shop in Bushwick. Sol Sips is a “pay what you can” vegan and beverage shop, which has been quite the buzz in Brooklyn. Read more in this Essence article and this NY City Lens piece!

Chaney currently has a GoFundMe for Sol Sips. If you too, want to help health and wellness be more accessible to Black and brown folks consider donating. –via Essence
