While many people visit New York and stay in Manhattan for holiday events and sights, like the Macy’s windows or the Rockefeller tree, we prefer to celebrate the holidays Brooklyn style! We’ve already gone to a tree lighting at The Human Compass Garden in the Columbia Waterfront (check!) We’ve bought jars of the best-ever hot chocolate from The Chocolate Room to give as gifts to friends and family (check!). What else do we have? Holiday markets of course! You can find a craft fair every weekend leading up to Christmas. Brooklyn Winter Flea + Holiday Market is a great place to find gifts for everyone on your list.
Another Brooklyn-centric activity is driving around Dyker Heights to look at the lit up houses. This is a must-see attraction. Giant houses with thousands of lights. Some are definitely very gaudy but some make you feel like you’re in the middle of winter wonderland. we’ll be visiting this area soon and will post a gallery of pictures to look through!
