Summer Movies in NYC by Shyda Hoque

It would not be summer without outdoor movies.  It is a place to gather with friends and enjoy a nice meal in the park while watching nostalgic hits from our childhood. I remember a few years back watching Jurassic Park in McCarren Park with many people who were seeing it on the big screen for the first time since they were kids.  NYC Parks sent out a list of movies being showing in parks throughout the 5 boroughs.

These events aren’t always only about the films.  Movies with a View in Brooklyn Bridge Park is partnering with the new DeKalb Market Hall and there will be a variety of food choices from kebabs, cakepops as well as popcorn for the film!  This series kicked off on Thursday,  July 13th. Food is served at 6pm and the movie will start at sundown.

The Intrepid Museum has movie screenings that started in May. Tickets are free and on a first-come, first-served basis.  There is basically a film series almost everyday of the week.  This is a great way to hang out with friends and enjoy a classic.  Now you can take the NYC Ferry from Manhattan and check out The Red Hook Flicks kicked off this week with Ferris Bueller’s Day off . Hope you are having a wonderful summer and can enjoy a film as the summer movies kick off this month!
