Sakura Matsuri at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens

The Cherry Blossom Festival, or Sakura Matsuri, is coming to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens on April 29th.  Some are concerned about the unusually warm weather affecting the timing of this event.  Will the trees bloom too early for the festival? We can always follow the progress of the cherry blossoms on this BBG map.  It shows which trees have begun to bud and which are in pre and peak bloom.  It’s looking like some are already flowering.  Hopefully the majority will still have flowers in time for the celebratory weekend!  The beautiful pink dappled trees aren’t the only spectacle at Sakura Matsuri.  Over the years Cosplay has become an important part of the event.  Droves of Anime fans come dressed in extravagant costumes and people watching is just as entertaining as enjoying the natural scenery! mark your calendars!
