Even if you haven’t heard of The Daffodil Project, you may have noticed all of the bright yellow flowers adorning our streets and parks since 2001. That was the year this project was founded as a living memorial for victims of September 11th. Since then over 7.5 million free bulbs have been planted across all five boroughs.
Who is eligible for free daffodils? Anyone with a public space to plant in. These aren’t for backyards, they are for sharing with the community. You can register to receive bulbs to plant in your community garden, local park or surrounding a tree on your sidewalk. As long as they are in a space shared with the public.
Registration for 2019 will be opening in late summer. Click here to read more and to register when that option opens up!
