Lighting of The World’s Largest Menorah

Chanukah begins on December 24th this year, which is wonderful for many celebrating because kids and many adults have the whole following week off from school and work. Here is a wonderful celebration to attend in Brooklyn beginning at 7pm on the night of the 24th in Grand Army Plaza.  Read more below!

At the World’s Largest Menorah every night of Chanukah is celebrated with live music, hot latkes, and gifts for the children.

The World’s Largest Menorah stands at a whopping 32 feet tall (the maximum allowed by Jewish law),  and has been towering over Grand Army Plaza since 1985. The annual Menorah lighting ceremony is a must for Jews and non-Jews alike.

With assistance from a Con Edison cherry-picker, Rabbi Shimon Hecht accompanies community leaders,  philanthropists and special guests in lighting this humongous Menorah.

The lighting of this menorah takes place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 24, 6:00 p.m. on Sunday December 25 through Thursday, December 29, 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 30, and at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31.
