Sunset Park is a neighborhood in Brooklyn that has quite a buzz behind it right now. It’s still relatively affordable and many have claimed that it’s going to be the next Williamsburg. It’s definitely been marked as one of the up-and-coming hoods of this already very hip borough.
It also has a very rich history. You can learn about this history at the Forgotten New York tour this Sunday September 17th beginning at noon. Read more about the what, where and whens below or click here!
WHEN: Sunday, September 17th, 12 NOON; tour begins shortly after
WHERE: Meet at the NW corner of 4th Avenue and 45th Street at the R train exit, pictured above. NOTE: The MTA has been monkeying with the R train on the weekends, running either uptown or downtown trains express; if the R is running express to Bay Ridge, you will need to go to 59th and catch a local uptown train to 45th. Give yourself some extra travel time, just in case.
HOW MUCH: $20; $15 for Greater Astoria Historical Society members
HOW LONG: approximately 2 hours
TERRAIN: A few hills. Rain or shine, within reason. A tropical storm or heavy rain will postpone.
