Dreaming of Spring Events

On this frigid and brutal wintry March day we find ourselves looking out at the icy and rainy snow and dreaming of sun and flowers. Spring is so close but it’s the final stretch and the time we start daydreaming of our favorite events ahead. Since March generally comes in like a lion and goes out like a lion in New York we are setting our sites further away towards April and May, when spring actually begins here. Here are three events you can dream of too!

The Cherry Blossom Festival, or Sakura Matsuri, “offers over 60 events and performances that celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture” at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on the last weekend of April. “The festival celebrates the Japanese cultural tradition of enjoying each moment of the cherry blossom season”.

Holi, the Festival of Colors, is also the last weekend of April in Brooklyn at 485 Johnson Avenue. We can’t wait until all of this gray is replaced with color all around us!

Here is a fun spring family event that we saw on Facebook! It’s the Spring Family Scavenger Hunt at Greenwood Cemetery. Read more below or click here.

Grab your smartphone and see Green-Wood in a whole new way! We are thrilled to launch the “Agents of Discovery” app, which we’ve developed in partnership with the US Forest Service. While we’re pretty sure our founders could not have quite wrapped their heads around this, we know they’d love the way it encourages users to discover Green-Wood’s trees, hills, and glacial ponds. Augmented reality? Check. Point scoring? Check. Kids outdoors discovering nature? Check. Win-win for everyone. Open to families with children of all ages. Ticket price covers the entire family!
