This lower east side music venue gem has been open for a decade and just announced it’s shutting it doors. Indie music lovers across all five boroughs are mourning The Cake Shop’s loss. It actually beat the odds staying open for so long with rents soaring in the neighborhood around it. According to this Brooklyn Vegan article , where we first heard the news, there is a chance it will reopen in Brooklyn. That would turn many current frowns upside down.
