Brooklyn Daytripper: Governor’s Island

Governor’s Island may be the easiest day trip from Brooklyn that really feels like you gone further. Just a quick ferry ride from Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge park and you are on a car-less island filled with activities and sights to see. We took a trip over on Saturday, which was a gorgeous sunny and mild day, to check out Pumpkin Point. Only one more weekend to visit this fall festival and the island itself since the last day they are open to the public is October 31st.

What’s new since we last visited the island? Glamping! We passed a whole field of posh tents in an enclave called Collective Retreats. They have also added more food trucks and a junkyard-esque playground for kids where they could play with hammers and build forts. Craziness! Check out our pics below.
