Back to School Charity Drives

New York City kids will be going back to school very soon and parents are scrambling to make sure their kids have all their supplies on the list they were given. Let’s stop for a moment and think about the children of this city whose parents can’t afford to purchase that long list of goods. According to the Coalition for the Homeless

More than 111,500 NYC students were homeless at some point during the last school year – and if things don’t get better, nearly one-in-seven public school kids will experience homelessness before completing elementary school. As family incomes are stretched extremely thin, homeless families simply can’t afford many of the basic items their kids need for school, like backpacks, notebooks, binders and other supplies.

Consider finding a back to school drive near you and donate today! Here is a great guide from Timeout.
