Tell us about your business & why you started it
Ooshie is an eco-luxury sustainable resort wear line for women. I believe that all women deserve to look and feel their best, no matter where they are in the world. My goal is to empower and inspire women to live their dreams. Our hand-drawn prints and designs are meant to create a sense of possibility, with the hope that will inspire women to chase their dreams and live life to the fullest. While my clothing is designed with the modern woman in mind, I believe that sustainable fashion is something that all women can enjoy. By choosing eco-friendly materials and methods, we can all help to protect our planet while still looking and feeling our best.
Why do you feel a connection to your work?
I feel connected to my work because, as a mother and entrepreneur, I understand the challenges of trying to do it all. Sometimes it feels like we’re just barely keeping our heads above water. But I also know the power of a beautiful dress to lift your spirits and give you the confidence to face anything. That’s why I design clothes for women that are both stylish and practical. I want every mother to feel like she can conquer the world, even on the most challenging days. And on the good days, I want her to feel like she can fly.
What advice would you give to young women who want to start a small business?
Believe in yourself and your vision. It’s essential to have faith in your abilities and to be passionate about your product or service. If you don’t believe in what you’re doing, it will be difficult to convince others to do the same. Never give up. There will inevitably be challenges and setbacks along the way. The key is to keep going and never give up on your dreams. Be patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a successful e-commerce business. It takes time to build a strong foundation and grow a loyal customer base. Don’t expect instantaneous results; focus on taking things one step at a time instead.
What women inspire you and why?
There are many strong, inspirational women in the world, but two who have always stood out to me are Heidi Klum and Jennifer Lopez. Klum, I admire her freedom, fearless spirit, and childishness while also being a powerful businesswoman in the fashion and entertainment industries. She has always seemed like someone truly happy in her skin, and she radiates positive energy. Lopez is another woman in whom I find inspiration. She may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I don’t particularly care for her as an artist, but you can’t deny her work ethic and passion for being an entertainer. She has achieved massive success in multiple industries, and she shows no signs of slowing down.
What do you think are the most significant challenges for women business owners or women in leadership positions?
Knowledge and resources.
