The 1984 Book Club at Central Library.

This is a very appropriate and interesting book discussion going on every month at Central Library. George Orwell’s 1984 is a dystopian novel set in a “world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation, dictated by a political system…under the control of a privileged elite”.

So far the event has been quite popular.  Though, the group is meant to be capped at 15, this first session had so much interest that they had to add a few more people than originally intended.  Its not that surprising that, during this concerning and strange political climate, people would be inclined to read this book and talk about it in a small group of strangers.  Its kind of like group therapy!  The January session has already begun but click here to sign up for the February discussion.
