Almost Ready Records, at 135 Huntington St, opened up at the beginning of the year and we’ve checked it out and give it two thumbs up! When we glanced at the new space we originally thought it was declaring that this record store was “almost ready” as in “coming soon”. But we soon discovered our mistake. Like any vinyl store, falling in love with one depends on what you’re looking for specifically. Some specialize in certain genres of music. We’d say this shop is rock and punk-centric, though they have a lot more that other music lovers will enjoy browsing. The location is a bit odd. It’s right at the corner of Hamilton next to the BQE at the far end of Carroll Gardens approaching Red Hook. Not much foot traffic but with all the car traffic that goes by it’s easy to spot. Record stores are really a niche market and collectors always seem to know every shop that suits their taste so this place will surely be destination shopping for many.
