Good on Paper

An Exhibition Celebrating Women and Non-Binary Artists at Compère Collective

Compère Collective, a woman-operated gallery space located in the vibrant neighborhood of Red Hook, Brooklyn, is excited to announce the opening of its latest show: “Good On Paper”. This exhibition will showcase the distinct and innovative talents of eight local women and non-binary artists whose works express the versatility and dynamism of paper-based mediums.

Curated by Alexandra Jamieson as part of her We Create NYC fiscal sponsor project under the New York Foundation for the Arts, “Good On Paper” is a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of Brooklyn’s creative community.

Artists include: Catalina Toro, Ellen Niz, Hayley Ferber, Judith Ornstein, Jocelyn Benford, Catalina Escallon, Nocturnal, and Alexandra Jamieson.

The exhibition will feature an eclectic range of works, from intricate cardboard constructions and collages, to delicately altered books and bold, layered watercolors. Through their unique perspectives and the transformative use of traditional materials, these artists push the boundaries of paper as a medium, challenging the viewer’s perceptions and inviting them into a dialogue about the intersection of creativity, materiality, and identity.
