Celebrating Our 15th By Giving Back: Stonewall Village

As a part of our 15th Anniversary celebration and thank you to Brooklyn, we’ve selected 15 non-profit organizations to highlight that are doing work in our borough—or directly helping our fellow Brooklynites. We encourage everyone to learn a bit about the people making our community stronger and, if possible, to join us in making a small monetary donation to further their work. We thank them for everything they do and thank you for supporting a small, woman-owned Brooklyn business for the past 15 years!

Securing affordable housing in New York City can be difficult for many New Yorkers—but having to secure it when you’re often discriminated against based on sexual identity, gender expression, income, and/or age make housing a critical issue for senior LGTBQ New Yorkers. That’s why the work of  today’s featured non-profit, Stonewall Village, is so critical.

As their website explains, “In addition to educating and organizing the community around affordable senior housing, Stonewall Village NYC provides access to services and products that help people age in place more successfully and a safe social space where LGBTQ seniors can feel comfortable being out with each other.”

We love that not only does Stonewall Village work on housing issues, they also offer community-building activities. Check out this roster! We appreciate the hard work Stonewall does on behalf of our neighbors and the community they build every day!
