Celebrating Our 15th By Giving Back: ROAR

As a part of our 15th Anniversary celebration and thank you to Brooklyn, we’ve selected 15 non-profit organizations to highlight that are doing work in our borough—or directly helping our fellow Brooklynites. We encourage everyone to learn a bit about the people making our community stronger and, if possible, to join us in making a small monetary donation to further their work. We thank them for everything they do and thank you for supporting a small, woman-owned Brooklyn business for the past 15 years!

One of the quintessential parts of life in NYC is the necessary extension of our living spaces. When we’re cramped in studios or busting at the seams in condos after having kids, New Yorkers quickly claim parks and restaurants as extensions of our homes. Maybe that’s why it hurts so much to see so many of our favorite places close and restaurant workers suffer due to the ongoing effects of COVID. That’s why it was so vital to us that some of our support go toward ROAR—Relief Opportunities for All Restaurants

As ROAR puts it on their website, “Hospitality teams live to take care of guests. Now it’s our turn to take care of them.” Restaurants and those who work in them are a huge part of this city’s cultural fabric and we worry about what happens to us all as beloved mainstays board up and hospitality workers must deal with food or housing insecurity (or get pushed out of the city entirely).

You can donate here—or if you’re a hospitality worker who needs help—apply here once applications open again on November 30.
