As part of our celebration of the holidays — and as a thank you to the larger community that supports us all year long — Realty Collective is proud to feature the work of key non-profit organizations making the borough (and beyond) better every day. We’ve selected 10 non-profits to highlight and we encourage everyone to learn a bit about their respective missions and, if possible, to join us in making a small monetary donation to further their work. We thank them for everything they do and thank you for supporting a small, woman-owned Brooklyn business for nearly 20 years.
We admit to being partial about this pick. Realty Collective Founder Victoria Alexander is Red Hook Business Alliance’s Vice Chair, but even if she weren’t, this is obviously an organization whose mission — to “ensure the economic vitality of the Red Hook community” – is vital to us as a small, woman-owned business. The New York City economy can wear down small-business owners, force out artists and freelancers, and strain non-profits doing vital work. RHBA strives to be part of a network of critical support that allows these diverse interests to build strong roots in Red Hook.
Red Hook Business Alliance understands the neighborhood’s position as a unique waterfront neighborhood in the city – one that attracts a diverse cross-section of New Yorkers who live and work here because they believe in this scrappy community. If you’ve spent any time visiting Red Hook, you’ve likely come across RHBA’s work – whether at our annual Holiday Market, our neighborhood window displays, or the events we put on throughout the year. RHBA has even put together a regularly updated calendar of neighborhood events to keep you in the know (it’s hard to get bored around here).
