Spotlight on newly opened FabStylist Salon in Bed Stuy.
May 20, 2015
We are so proud to be working with small businesses like FabStylist. Realty Collective’s Christopher Webb was happy to find owner, Sharntai Harris (pictured above), a space and help her join a community. Here’s what he has to say about the salon and process.
FabStylist Salon celebrated its grand opening in April 2015. The salon found a perfect home in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Owner Sharntai Harris, is a Brooklyn native and realized as a young girl she had a passion for hair and beauty. Growing up in Brooklyn she was able to see how much hair and beauty played a role in the New York City culture. She immediately knew that she wanted to thrive in this industry. Sharntai studied at the Aveda Institute where she made an immediate impression mastering a wide range of skills and eventually became known for her extraordinary weave techniques.
After graduating from the Aveda Institute, Sharntai began her career at the Edris salon and Evolution salon. She realized early on that if she coupled her outgoing attitude with her unique craft her clientele would grow. And so it did! Eventually, Sharntai moved to Liz Loves Hair and began to brand herself by participating in New York’s Fashion Week, styling best-selling artists in music videos and photo shoots, and utilizing social media. She gained an even bigger following sharing her creative hairstyles with the world.
Here at FabStylist, Sharntai will encourage women, regardless of race, to embrace their natural hair and is committed to only using products that protect the integrity of the client’s natural hair. At only 27 years old, Sharntai says, “this is only the beginning of her success”. In the future, Sharntai hopes to open more salons all over the world to give women everywhere the look they desire.
I’m really glad that I was able to find Sharntai the ideal space for her new salon. When we first met Sharntai’s goal was to find a new space and be open within in a matter of weeks. With my knowledge of the community and market I was able to help her achieve that goal. Sharntai’s enthusiasm is contagious. I truly believe with her professionalism, personality, and determined mindset she is destined to be an international stylist jet setting all over the world. FabStylist is located at 85 Ralph Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11221.
