RealTours: A Day in Ditmas Park with Susan Grossman

Susan Grossman is a long time resident of Ditmas Park so she definitely knows the ins and outs of where to grab the best bites and soak up the best ambiance. Something that made us smile when we read her favorites list was the fact that there is a flower shop and bar sharing a space (Stems and Sycamore). A good example of how charming this area is.
Noon: On a weekend morning I love to head to Café Madeline, which is a sweet little spot on Courtelyou Road with great coffee, baked goods, and sandwiches.
Afternoon: Just a quick walk over to 1118 Courtelyou to visit Stems, the flower shop with the bar in the back. I like to stop by and either pick up a bouquet or just browse their gorgeous arrangements. I don’t have to tell you it smells wonderful in there.
Dinner: For dinner you can’t beat Hunger Pang on Church Avenue. This place is fairly new to the area and it quickly became a favorite of mine. They call themselves “New-American Asian” food. I often eat here for brunch. They aren’t open for lunch but will be soon.
Evening: Heading back to 1118 Courtelyou. This time to visit Sycamore, the bar with the flower shop in the front. I love this bar. They have great specials, such as the $10 pint of beer and bouquet special. They also have great outdoor space. Visit while you still can enjoy the warm weather!
Hidden Gem: A spot non-residents may not have heard of is Café Tibet, which is right by the Courtelyou Q stop. It’s tiny, delicious, and cheap. Bring cash because they don’t take cards.
