Our favorite 2014 openings in the hood.

Happy New Year everyone!  It’s been a good year for new openings and our list this year has a great deal of variety.  From shared office/creative space in Red Hook to drinks and shuffleboard in Gowanus, unique ideas seem to be the theme of 2014.

Royal Palms Shuffleboard opened up in Gowanus close the beginning of the year.  It’s a huge place that can get pretty packed.  Games, drinks and grilled cheese equals fun.

Hay Rosie on Union between Henry and Hicks is a delicious ice cream place that blends interesting ingrdients such as sriracha and popcorn.

Orchard opened on Columbia Street over the summer.  With it’s unique farm-to-table dishes it’s a really yummy addition to the neighborhood.

SHARED in Red Hook is another great addition to it’s neighborhood.  Share office and creative space is something that many residents of Red Hook had been waiting for.

Kao Soy came along not too long ago on Van Brunt.  It’s sooo good.  A few notches above your average Thai cuisine.

The Hop Shop is a craft beer bar on Columbia Street.  Good beer, good atmosphere and a new neighborhood favorite for many.
