You don’t know how many people we’ve talked to who have lived here for decades and have not visited some New York sights, such as the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building. So many of us consider those to be “tourist attractions” but we decided to brave the lines and go visit Lady Liberty over the weekend. It was pretty amazing and we took several of photos to share with you!
Paying a little extra and planning ahead to go up to the crown is highly recommended. You’ll need to plan months in advance, however, because they only let 400 people up per day. It’s a very tight area with room for about 10 to 12 people. Our advice is to go on a weekday and when it’s not too hot. I would imagine on a hot day that small space above Lady Liberty’s head and the metal spiral staircase up would be stuffy and miserable.
