Brooklyn Daytripper: Staten Island Museum

With these frigid temperatures we’ve all been getting cabin fever indoors.  Museums in Manhattan have been super crowded with tourists so we decided to take a day-trip out to our neighboring borough to the southwest for a quiet museum experience. The Staten Island Museum is a lovely mixture of art, history and science exhibits in a beautiful expansive and very quiet space.

It’s only a 30 minute drive from Red Hook, though unfortunately triple that via public transit.  As you can see from the photo gallery there is plenty to see and learn about.  The whole bottom floor auditorium is devoted to the history of Staten Island.  They have some wonderful interactive exhibits as well that kids and adults alike will find enjoyable.
