“Remembering Brooklyn” windows on Sackett Street.
Nov 07, 2014
There’s a small space on Sackett Street, between Hicks and Henry, that’s always seemed like part storefront and part residential space. Right now there are painting propped up in the windows and writing on the windows to describe those paintings. The middle window says “Remembering Brooklyn: Brooklyn Paintings 1972-1988”. It’s an interesting look at how Brooklyn has changed over the years through this artists portrayals of buildings around the hood back in the 70’s and 80’s. One painting (directly below) has the caption “No longer the tallest building in Brooklyn…Williamsburg Savings Bank 1975, Now Condominiums”. If you’re down that way the captions are really interesting to read.
