Tell us a little about your background and why you feel a connection to Paula’s Movers.
I have a background in art and industrial design. I was very interested in architecture early in my life and fell in love with real estate during the process. Originally I came from South Korea and now I am living with my wonderful family in New York, we are very happy here and love what we are doing!
Working in the real estate industry, I feel that there are more needs to be met with regard to customer care and services, in the moving industry. Both industries are quite related to each other and with the help of my family, I’ve been able to combine them and give a more holistic and personal approach to moving.
In my own moving experiences, companies were lacking the warmth that ensures peace of mind. The more a business can rightfully earn the trust of people, the greater the opportunity for their success. Eventually, a trustworthy company will reap the rewards of its valiant efforts, only a matter of time. This is how I also go to bed without regret, knowing that I’ve done my best job to help people that day.
I feel that there is a very strong masculine presence in the moving industry, nothing wrong with that, but I feel like it would be nice to have a little bit of a feminine touch!
Beyond just the muscles, I wanted to bring moving back into the heart, connect with people on a less superficial level and provide them safe trustworthy support. I know personally moving can be very stressful and I am here to show people that it doesn’t have to be!
We’d like to know about your experience within your community. How have you become involved within your community?
This is my family and our arms are open to everyone.
In the past, we have connected to our neighborhood through a great internet platform called NextDoor which connects small businesses to their local community. All the goods and services offered close by are listed on their website. Otherwise, we are currently exploring more means of connecting with our community, and are open to any suggestions you may have with regard to this?
What advice would you give to other women who want to run a small business?
My advice to young women who want to run their small business is to make sure you do your research! This is very important and gives you a clearer picture on the direction you are going.
Gratitude is also an essential element, every day I am thankful for the things I have been blessed with. This makes me wake up with a smile on my face (obviously after coffee!) and a positive attitude for life!
Every day you will meet challenges but the most important part is to never lose faith, especially in yourself! Anything is possible with the right mindset and attitude, that I am sure of.
