New Food Shopping Option in Fort Greene by Shyda Hoque

As 2018 has begun and resolutions have been made, thoughts of a healthy new year will be on the mind of many.  Ft. Greene and the Downtown Brooklyn area will have another grocery store to look to for fresh produce and smoothie ingredients as the first east coast outpost of Whole Foods 365 will open this month at 292 Ashland Place. It  will be right across the street from BAM and in the same development as the Apple Store that opened at the beginning of last month.  Whole Foods 365 launched in 2015 to provide a “fun retail experience to bring healthy, fresh affordable foods to more communities” as stated by President Jeff Turnas. Having lived in Ft. Greene for a few years I noticed that there were not many food shopping options besides Pathmark and the Greene Grape Provisions. It also looks like Wegmans in the Navy Yards might be delayed till 2019.  This will be a great addition to the area and a reason to go see a film at BAM and then grab some groceries across the street! Happy New Year everyone!
