Book clubs are a wonderful way to meet your neighbors, inspire other aspects of your life and give you a kick in the pants to read more! We’ve noticed many popping up here and there, such as the Brooklyn Public Library’s 1984 book discussion. Also, next to our Columbia Street office, the bookstore Freebird has been holding a post-apocalyptic themed book club since 2008, though many would say it’s more appropriate in the post-Trump era than when it began.
We saw the sign (above) for one we hadn’t heard of before. It’s at Berl’s Brooklyn Poetry Shop, family run poetry bookstore, at 141 Front Street in Dumbo. Check out their website and follow them on twitter for news on future book clubs.
